Volt Entrepreneurs

Electrifying youth enterprise with an attention-grabbing new brand

When we first met these enterprise educators, they were known as Advance Youth Now. They had stacks of juicy course materials and extensive backgrounds in both education and enterprise, plus a unique suite of products. But they were struggling to engage their Gen Z audience — or get parents to invest. So they came to us for a brand that’d do their concept justice.

Thinking

After a brand strategy workshop to unpack their offering and get to grips with their audiences, we knew we’d have to dig right down to the foundations and rebuild from scratch. The brand needed to connect with both young entrepreneurs and their parents, which meant finding balance without diluting their message. It had to come across exciting, but reputable; fun, but solidly educational; innovative, but tried, tested, and trusted. That meant a new name, strapline, story, and full visual identity, crafted with those dual audiences in mind.

Outcome

First up: the name. To appeal to Gen Z we focused on single, high-impact words, avoided quirky spellings, and searched for meaning and energy. We landed on ‘Volt’, a name inspired by all the ways the offering could supercharge young entrepreneurs’ futures. That’s underpinned by the strapline ‘Electric potential’, a scientific definition of ‘volt’ that captures young people’s powerful ideas and ambition.

From there we built an electrifying visual identity, filled with neon-inspired assets and bright, punchy colours. At its heart is the flickering neon arrow logo, which gives the word ‘Volt’ an upward current that reflects learners’ drive. Accompanying photography is authentic and fun, showing teens living life on their terms. And the ‘sticker’ style graphics, bold messaging, and vibrant colour palette take inspiration from Gen Z’s online world.

Importantly though, the brand is still far from laid-back; every detail is thoughtfully perfected and polished, giving Volt the professional edge needed to show off their credibility. Because young people take their futures seriously — as do the parents buying the product. With Volt, those futures look brighter than ever.
