Granite folds and four other finds
Five Finds is a monthly collection of five inspiring things we deemed worthy of sharing. If you’d like inspiration in your inbox each month sign up here.
This month’s studio collection feels loosely linked to my current autumnal mood. Brew some coffee, stick some music on and dive on into the work of some very talented folk.
From the studio, there’s a sneak peek of a lovely project we’ve been working on for a little while now. It’s still under wraps until the new year but I wanted to share one of the brilliant illustrations we’ve commissioned for it.
Take it easy,

Granite folds
José Manuel Castro López’s mind-bending stone sculptures turn solid granite and quartz into cascading fabric – suggestions of clay and skin – with carved and polished folds, puckers and wrinkles.
Fungus fun
Alice Roseberry-Haynes (Alice and the Ink) had some down time between projects. To fill it, she mocked up some spec work imagining using her bright and bold illustration style to advertise Kew Garden’s fungarium.
Something, something
Laura Marling’s latest album has played on repeat in the studio since it came out a couple of weeks ago and her track ‘Caroline’ is the stand out for me. The song tells the story of a man getting an out-of-the-blue call from an old flame he’s tried to forget. The lyrics are poignant and smart.
Colourful coffee
If you’ve started your present buying early, Aeropress have released their excellent coffee maker in a range of clear colours perfect for any coffee connoisseur. And yes it was invented by the same guy that invented the Aerobie.
A year of Joy
Super talented lettering artist Rachel Joy is releasing her first printed calendar featuring 12 colourful typographic artworks to bring some joy each month through the year. There is a limited number available so go check it out.

Sneak peek
We’re currently working on a project for a smart product that could quite literally change people’s lives. It’s all very exciting but we can’t share too much just yet. Instead, as a sneak peek, we thought we’d share one of the illustrations we’ve commissioned. Drawn by the lovely Ryan Todd, we briefed him to create a feeling of lightness and calm and think he nailed it (along with many more tricky concepts). More to follow in the new year.
